Stewards of God's Love

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word "stewardship?" Budgets and spreadsheets? Money? Pledge cards? What about love? LCI is a congregation of the ELCA that is energized by lively engagement in our faith and life, and we have an important message to share:  stewardship is about so much more than money – stewardship is about love.

God has sent us into the world as ambassadors and stewards of God’s love. Stewardship is about how
we live out that call to share God's love in all that we do. Stewardship is a way of life. It is not just about what is given to the congregation, but about how generous we are with all that God has entrusted into our care both inside and outside of the church walls and in our homes .

Stewardship is not about the congregation’s need to receive, but about the giver’s need to give. Among the disciplines of stewardship are First fruit, Proportionate, and Growth giving. These are the gifts through which God gives to us a new heart and sets us free from the bondage of this world.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matt 6:21

A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

Ezek 36:26

But we are not alone! We have been grafted into the Tree of Life, the Body of Christ. We have been nurtured and fed through Word and sacrament, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to be a witness to the world. Stewardship in the church is about how we use our time and abilities as well as our treasurer to enhance the mission and ministry of LCI, and to reach out to our neighbors in Davis and surrounding communities.
