Church Council

The LCI Church Council provides leadership for matters of church policy and finances. The Council consists of six LCI members, elected by the congregation to staggered three year terms, plus the Pastor. The Council generally meets monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Meetings are held in the LCI library from 6:30-8:30 PM or by zoom and are open; i.e, all LCI members and friends are welcome to attend (including zoom meetings).

Council Member

Carol is a retired State of CA administrator, and has attended LCI since 2012. Carol raised her daughters in Davis, and now resides with her husband John in Woodland. In retirement, Carol spends time gardening, quilting, and on road trips with John and their dog, Raider.

Jeff is a retired UCD scientist and administrator. He has been attending LCI since 2010. He is a long-time resident of Davis, as is his wife Jill. They have two adult children. In retirement, Jeff enjoys volunteering in the Davis public schools.

I am a retired ELCA clergy person. My ministry was divided between congregational ministry and synod and churchwide staff as a stewardship specialist. My passion involves all areas of social justice. I reside in Woodland with my wife, Marcia. We have been members of LCI for 7 years. In retirement we enjoy our children and grandchildren, plus vegetable gardening, reading, and traveling.

Becky has been a Christian since high school. In various churches, she served food in homeless shelters, led campus ministry small groups, attended adult education classes and taught Sunday school. She works at UC Davis, and in her spare time enjoys gardening, cooking, swimming, and hiking with her husband Carl in beautiful areas.

Ed grew up in Montana ranch country, is a life long Lutheran and had a long career in academic and commercial plant science, retiring as VP of Research at Seminis (now Monsanto). He and Bonnie have attended LCI since 1990 after moving to Davis from the Chicago area. He has served LCI in a number of capacities including terms on Council, President, Facilities and Sanctuary Renovation, and the Columbarium. Ed enjoys woodworking, travel and especially time with grandchildren Wyatt, Addie and Parker.

Karl is a graduate student in physiology at UCD and was raised in the Lutheran Church as the grandson of an ELCA pastor. He and his wife Chelsea have been attending LCI since 2017. As Midwest transplants, they enjoy exploring the greater outdoors of Northern California.

Jenny was born and raised in the Lutheran church. She attended Gloria Dei Lutheran School K-8 in South Sacramento. Jenny’s family joined Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she was confirmed and heavily involved with the Youth Group through high school. Jenny, John, and Sophia, became members of LCI in 2010. Jenny has served as Greeter coordinator, Sunday School coordinator, Sunday School teacher, Learning & Education Committee Chair, Fellowship Hall Renovation Task Force, as well as Sanctuary Renovation Task Force. Jenny is a Certified Interior Designer for UC Davis Student Housing & Dining Services Facilities Department.

Born into Lutheran family, and baptized and confirmed in a large Ohio Lutheran church. Cathy and I arrived in Davis 50 years ago and joined LCI..

I served as an administrator for 42 years @ UC Davis. Currently, I also serve on the University Retirement Community (in Davis) Board of Directors (Chair) and on two national Boards associated with senior living communities.
